Management for an Integrative Health and Social Care Workforce

This online module caters to individuals aspiring to enhance their management skills in the health and social care sectors. Upon completion, students will gain expertise in critically evaluating management practices, honing personal management abilities, and understanding their influence on organizational change. The coursework-only assessment includes various methods such as essays and presentations.

Degree Overview:
This module acknowledges the needs of those in current or developmental managerial roles in health and social care arenas or organisations (including the voluntary or independent sector) who wish to develop new management skills to enhance future Integrative Health and Social Care.
Objectives:
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Critically examine management issues in health and social care practice
- Critically evaluate and demonstrate personal management skills
- Critically evaluate his/her own influence on changes/improvements through professional networks
Assessment:
This course is assessed through 100% coursework with a range of methods, such as essays, research reports, presentations, group work and practical reports which will be handed in and assessed at the end of the 10 week trimester. There will be 1/2 virtual classrooms over the 10 week trimester and if you are unable to attend you will be able to download the session to view in your own time.
Other:
- Most students who undertake this programme of study are already employed in practice and/or in management roles within the fields of health, social care, public, voluntary or community sector organisations.
- The accumulation of knowledge and skills for managerial roles of the 21st century is a National and International challenge. Through this module students will gain the skills to lead quality and service improvements, understand the value of effective strategic management and develop skills in professional judgement and problem solving.
- For this short online course, we recommend about 20 hours of study per week to complete one 20-credit module over a 10-week trimester.
- Once you’ve completed this course you may be able to offset the 20 credits towards our online MSc Integrative Health and Social Care or the online Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.
