You can specialize in areas like genomics, proteomics, microbial biotechnology, or bioinformatics, or tailor your studies with a mix of courses across these topics. This program also equips you with skills for employment in the biotechnology sector or further study.

Structure:

  • 180-point program completed over three semesters full-time, with part-time options available.
  • Delivered through lectures, seminars, laboratories, and research supervision.
  • First two semesters comprise 120 points of core and elective courses.
  • Second semester includes a research project and the course BIOSCI 761 Research proposal and seminar.
  • Choice of practical experience course in cell-based or genome-based technologies (BIOSCI 704 or BIOSCI 701).
  • Opportunity to specialize in areas like bioinformatics, molecular cell biology and genetics, molecular microbiology, plant biotechnology, or protein engineering.
  • Final semester includes a 45-point research project and a 15-point taught course.
