Student services
From getting around town to knowing how to dress on campus, the Student Affairs department’s role is to guide students through their everyday life on campus and help them find a home away from home.
The team assists students with everything relating to the Swiss residence permit, as well as many other non-academic administrative procedures. They also keep the student community to date about what is going on in school and its surroundings through regular newsletters and emails and are heavily involved in the various clubs and societies as well as the many events, activities and outings that take place throughout the semester.
Housing services
Les Roches Crans–Montana has 18 residential buildings situated on campus, each of them just a short walk away from our restaurants, bars and academic facilities.
Most of the student accommodation offers stunning views of the surrounding Alpine scenery. Rooms may include en suite bathroom or external bathrooms, a bed and desk for studying.
Most buildings feature common spaces for residents, such as meeting areas, kitchens and laundry facilities.
Senior students may choose to live off campus (as of semester 6, except first-time transfer students). There are numerous private apartments to rent in Crans-Montana and throughout the surrounding area.
Library services
The library is open 7/7, with two full-time librarians available during weekdays.
The library subscribes to 18 physical journals and has over 8,000 physical resources. Students also have access to online resources around the clock through the library’s website. Across programs, the library currently provides 57 textbooks and e-textbooks combined, with lifetime access to course materials.ICT services
Wi-Fi access is available across all the campus buildings.
As part of the school’s onboarding package and following a decision to go paperless, all students receive an iPad.
The campus features two computer labs, plus a digital media lab to support educational technology, which gives students access to audiovisual production equipment and a 3D printer.
Medical services
Two full-time campus-based, hospital-qualified nurses support the students’ physical and mental health needs.
A student counselor is also in charge of looking after psychological and emotional wellbeing concerns. After an initial consultation, a student may be referred to a qualified generalist or specialist doctor.
The nearest hospital can be found in the town of Sierre, 10km away from campus.Student Life
Campus life
All Les Roches’ campus buildings are scattered throughout the picturesque alpine village of Bluche, which is 10 minutes away from the world-famous ski and golf resort of Crans-Montana.
The campus has five restaurants, two bars and a mini market, with all facilities and accommodation buildings within easy walking distance of each other.
In Crans-Montana, students can find plenty to keep them entertained – including high-end food, culture and shopping. Down the mountain in Sierre there’s a more extensive range of shopping and other facilities, as well as a mainline railway station offering connections throughout Switzerland and beyond.
Sports facilities
Keeping fit on campus is easy, with access to sports courts (such as football and basketball), a fitness center and an outdoor swimming pool.
From skiing in winter to mountain biking in summer, students are never short of outdoor activities. Students can also make use of nearby sports facilities, such as an indoor swimming pool, ice skating rink, golf course, and more.
Student clubs
Plenty of student clubs are available on campus, such as SharpSpeakers (Public Speaking Club), Les Roches Wine Club, Green Club, Art Society, Culinary Club, Les Roches Gives Back (Charity Association) and the Student Governance Association.
There are also many sports teams including football, rugby, volleyball, basketball and cricket.
Any interested student can participate, and the school encourages students to start a new club or team if it’s feasible and interest is there.
Les Roches students also learn by putting on their own high-profile events. They include Cultural Night, The Future of Hospitality Summit, World of Wines Expo, Open Mic Night and Les Roches Got Talent.Accreditation
Les Roches Global Hospitality Education is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied though a peer review process.
An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.
