Services
Student services
The Office of Global Initiatives (OGI) is the primary university resource and focal point for international student services and study abroad. OGI provides international students with comprehensive, on-going assistance in all matters related to maintaining immigration status. We oversee and offer a range of programs and services, throughout the year, to ease the student adjustment to the NJIT community. OGI also advises all NJIT students on opportunities to study abroad.
Housing services
More and more, NJIT students are choosing to live on campus in one of our four residence halls -more than 1,500 students this year, including about half of the freshman class.
Students like the convenience of campus living: access to classes, the library, computer labs, activities, recreational centers, study groups, and faculty. Living on-campus offers a host of other opportunities for students: easy access to NYC (20 min), New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), Newark Museum, adjacent colleges (Rutgers-Newark, UMDNJ, and Essex County College); and the chance for you to be independent, living on your own and making key decisions.
Library services
The Robert W. Van Houten Library, houses a core collection of print books, group study rooms and has an Information Commons computer lab with more than 120 computer workstations and wireless access throughout the building. The Barbara and Leonard Littman Architecture, Art and Design Library, a branch of the university library, maintains a core collection of architecture, art and design resources.
ICT services
- Wireless Network: Wireless access is available across campus. Mobile devices are required to authenticate for complete access. Guest access is also available.
- Public Network Ports: Public network ports, for use with a wired connection available throughout the campus.
- Office Network: Faculty and staff can connect to the NJIT network from their office using high-speed wired ports.
Medical services
Good health is central to the personal, academic, and professional success of any student. The health and well being of our students is our primary concern and to ensure that, NJIT @ St. Michael's Primary & Specialty Care Center provides quality health care to all eligible NJIT registered students.
Student Life
Campus life
NJIT is located in Newark, New Jersey's largest city. Newark is also New Jersey's cultural and economic capital, boasting performance spaces, professional sports, great food, and five other nearby colleges. We're also 20 minutes by train to New York City, the greatest city on Earth. On any given day, you can watch a sporting event (we have 19 Division I teams), challenge friends in the Campus Center’s gaming room or lend a hand in a community cleanup project.
Sports facilities
NJIT makes it easy to get out of the lab or library and get rid of some stress through exercise. Everyone—from beginners to scholarship athletes—can participate in varsity, club, or intramural sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, fencing, volleyball, judo, and even cricket.
Student clubs
NJIT is home to hundreds of student-run clubs and organizations covering a wide variety of personal and professional interests. Each gives you the chance to become involved in campus life and connect with students who have similar interests. Whether you want to save the environment, explore your creative side, run for student government, or join a fraternity or sorority, you'll find many options at NJIT. There is a group for every interest–educational, multicultural, artistic, pre-professional, political, athletic, religious, service-oriented and more.
