Algoma University's Certificate in The Business of Esports, the first of its kind in Ontario, provides industry-relevant skills for aspiring esports professionals. This one-year program offers 10 courses taught by industry experts, covering topics such as marketing, management, and event planning. Students gain networking and experiential learning opportunities through academic esports events and tournaments. Graduates are equipped for careers in the esports business sector, including employment and entrepreneurship.

Degree Overview:
Algoma University School of Business and Economics offers a Certificate in The Business of Esports, the first such program in Ontario. Launched in September 2022, it's a one-year, two-semester program designed for esports enthusiasts seeking industry employment and entrepreneurs aiming to build their personal brands within the esports sector. The certificate provides the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed for success in the business side of esports. Graduates receive a Certificate in The Business of Esports. The program includes 10 courses (30 credits) and offers current, industry-relevant courses taught by subject matter experts with real-world experience. Students gain networking opportunities and participate in academic esports events and tournaments for experiential learning. The certificate can be completed full-time or part-time, and all courses can be applied toward a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (provided entrance requirements are met).

Undergraduate certificates are ideal for students seeking an additional credential during their degree program in a different discipline or for part-time study. Students enrolled in an undergraduate certificate while completing a degree are ineligible for a minor in the same discipline. There are limited spots available in the Certificate in The Business of Esports.
