Degree Overview:
The program is a Bachelor of Midwifery (Ebe Lisans Diploması) program. Its objective is to train midwives who can monitor mothers and newborns during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period; identify deviations from normal; independently conduct normal deliveries; and utilize professional midwifery approaches in cases of deviations from normal. The program is a full-time, undergraduate program (Lisans programıdır) requiring 240 ECTS credits. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills to provide quality, culturally sensitive services to women, newborns, children, and families in areas such as obstetrics, gynecology, neonatology, social sciences, public health, and ethics. They will be equipped to support healthy family life, planned pregnancies, and positive parenting. The program also emphasizes providing quality prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care, including risk assessment, treatment, and referral. Graduates will be prepared to provide skilled newborn care and address pregnancy termination or loss situations according to national protocols. Continuous professional development is also a key component of the program. Outline:
The Midwifery program consists of 74 courses totaling 240 ECTS credits. The curriculum includes core required courses (Ortak zorunlu dersler) mandated by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) and other common courses determined by the University Senate. Each semester has at least 4 courses, excluding common required and elective courses. Elective courses (seçmeli dersler) are offered from the first year onward, with 25% of electives drawn from other faculties. There are 30 elective courses in total. Students must complete both theoretical and non-theoretical elective courses to reach the 240 ECTS credit requirement. Elective courses must be chosen from the "Field-Related Elective Courses" list; courses not on this list are not accepted. The ECTS credits for elective courses must be equal to or greater than those specified in the curriculum. Non-field-related elective courses can be chosen from General Elective Courses (GEC coded courses) or Created Common Elective Courses (GCE coded courses) offered by the Common Courses Coordination Unit (odk.neu.edu.tr). Students must ensure that their elective courses do not overlap significantly with previously taken or required courses.
Assessment:
Students must achieve a minimum weighted GPA (Ağırlıklı Genel Not Ortalaması) of 2.00/4.00 and a minimum grade of DD/S in all courses to graduate. Successful completion of all courses in the curriculum (en az 240 AKTS ve en az DD/S notu alarak programın müfredatında yer alan tüm derslerden başarılı olmak) is required. Graduates of the Midwifery program can work in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, university hospitals, private hospitals, state hospitals, and family and community health centers.

The university's language of instruction is English, so international students must demonstrate their English language proficiency. International students are admitted based on scores from international exams like SAT or ACT, or high school diploma scores. Exchange students are admitted according to agreements between Near East University and partner universities. Visiting students can enroll in courses with the approval of the relevant academic unit. Entry Requirements:
