Program Overview


The 2-Year MSc in Food and Agribusiness Management equips future leaders with the knowledge and skills to address challenges in the food and agriculture industry, with a focus on environmental responsibility. The program combines management and agricultural and food sciences, offering a unique global perspective through study in France and Brazil. Graduates receive a Master of Science and an MBA certificate, preparing them for careers in various sectors of the industry. Degree Overview:

The 2-Year MSc in Food and Agribusiness Management aims to help reinvent the world's food and agriculture industry. It addresses the challenges of environmental responsibility within the sector, including the impact of agricultural activities, food sovereignty, food waste, malnutrition, competitiveness, and organic or GMO products. The program equips future leaders with the tools and thinking needed to innovatively and responsibly address challenges like feeding a growing population with dwindling natural resources. The MSc FAM is unique due to its high level of cultural and academic diversity among students, a two-month experience at a partner school in Brazil providing insight into South American food industry challenges, and a business-oriented teaching approach fostering global networking. Graduates receive a Master of Science in Food & Agribusiness Management diploma from Audencia Business School and a Master in Business Administration em Gestão de Agronegócios certificate from FECAP Business School in Brazil. The program provides the tools to develop innovative solutions for agribusiness challenges, manage all aspects of agribusiness operations, and effectively market food products. It combines management and agricultural and food sciences, attracting students from diverse backgrounds (agronomy, agricultural engineering, finance, law, languages, literature, management, international business, etc.).


Outline:

The two-year program (26 months) includes 465 hours of training. The first year is compulsory and takes place in Nantes, France. The curriculum is divided into several components:

  • First Semester (Advanced Management Courses): Financial Analysis, Management Control, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurial project & business plan, Business Simulation, Customer Experience & Branding, Financing an International Project, Managing and leading a Team, Cyber Security, Foreign language, Sport.
  • First Semester (GAIA Courses - Ecological & Social Transition Management): Ecology and biodiversity, Climate science for business, Geopolitical strategies of energy and technology, Impact finance, Nature inspired innovation & marketing, Strategizing and ethical challenges, Spreading impact, Consulting project for sustainable business, Introduction to research methods, Foreign language, Sport.
  • Subsequent Courses: Responsible Entrepreneurship & Business Plan, Food Innovation & Design Thinking, Sustainable Food Strategies, Responsible Food Marketing, B2C Food Marketing, Business Analytics and Big Data in Food, Managerial Finance, Supply Chain & Operations in the Food Sector, International Trading and Food Sustainability, Food Value Chain and Marketing from a Brazilian Perspective, Risk management and high-level global Food Strategies from a Brazilian Perspective, Public Strategies and International Policies from a Brazilian Perspective, Sustainable and Disruptive Innovation from a Brazilian Perspective, Anthropology of Food and Food Crisis, Responsible Leadership in a Cross-Cultural Environment, Energy Transition: from Narrative to Practice (by Gaïa - case study on food waste).
  • Internship or Work Experience (4-6 months): A pre-professional experience allowing practical application of acquired knowledge and skills.
  • Master's Thesis: An in-depth study of a topic related to the Master of Science, allowing students to highlight their learning and planned application.
  • The program includes monthly visits to agribusiness companies in France and Brazil.

Assessment:

The program uses continuous monitoring, written exams, a final dissertation, and group work for assessment.


Teaching:

The program uses a combination of theoretical and practical sequences (face-to-face or distance learning) employing business simulations, case studies, and interactive lessons. Teaching is conducted by top Audencia and FECAP faculty and industry experts.


Careers:

Graduates work in various roles: 41% in Sales, marketing, business development; 19% in consultancy, research, teaching; 12% in Supply chain, operations; 11% as Entrepreneurs, General Managers, or CEOs; and 5% in various other roles (Law, Finance, Administration, HR, Student). The Career & Corporate Relations Center provides support for internships, CVs, cover letters, and career development.


Other:

The program boasts a diverse student body from all continents, with 50% being engineers and scientists. Students receive both an MSc degree and an MBA certificate. The program emphasizes soft skills and emotional intelligence. The program has a satisfaction rate of 83% among students, with an average promotion age of 28. There are 30 places available in the program. The program is taught in English and is a full-time, face-to-face program. The program takes place on the Audencia Atlantic Campus in Nantes and the São Paulo Campus in São Paulo. The program includes a semester in Brazil for students. Audencia has strong partnerships with public and private institutions offering scholarships to international students. After graduation, students may pursue further studies through Audencia's DBA program or participate in Executive Education courses.
