Degree Overview:

The Faculty of Dentistry at The British University in Egypt offers eight Master's Degree programs in Dental Sciences. The programs aim to build skills and experience through a student-centered, self-learning approach supported by course guides and well-equipped research labs. The university's vision is to influence Egypt's vision implementation in applied research and education through future collaborations and the development of high-impact sustainable practice in community wellbeing. The mission is to achieve interdisciplinary research and learning opportunities by implementing a nourishing environment that stimulates the production of employable graduates meeting national and international standards. The programs are approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education. The Master's Degree programs are credit hour system programs, each composed of six semesters equivalent to 120 credit hours (for some specializations) or 52 credit hours (for others). The program duration is a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years, including obligatory courses, elective courses, and thesis components. A 75% attendance rate is mandatory for each course, along with fulfilling practical or clinical requirements. Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Orthodontics (120 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Oral Biology (120 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery (120 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Prosthodontics (120 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Endodontics (52 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Operative Dentistry (52 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental sciences in the Specialty of Oral Medicine, Periodontology and Oral Diagnosis (52 credit hours) Master Degree In Dental Sciences in the Specialty of Pediatric Dentistry (52 credit hours) The curriculum includes obligatory courses, elective courses, and a thesis component (equivalent to 12 credit hours). The thesis work can be spread across semesters, including summer semesters if needed, with the distribution approved by thesis supervisors. Candidates must complete an adequate number and variety of acceptable, fully documented and treated cases, literature reviews, seminars, and comprehensive case studies. These requirements must be scheduled and approved by the course director and head of the department, certified by the head of graduate studies upon course registration. Candidates must complete these requirements before taking course examinations.


Assessment:

The assessment includes a CGPA requirement of 2.0 or more for thesis proposal submission, thesis defense, and graduation. A 75% attendance rate is mandatory for each course. Candidates must also fulfill any practical or clinical requirements of their chosen specialization.


Teaching:

The teaching approach is described as student-centered and self-learning, supported by course guides and highly equipped research labs.


Other:

The programs are approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education. The total credit hours for some programs are 120, while others are 52 credit hours. Students who miss two full semesters without valid excuse (as defined in the by-laws) after receiving three warning emails will be dismissed from the program. Students who fail a core module on the second attempt will also be dismissed.
