Degree Overview:
The Faculty of Dentistry at The British University in Egypt offers eight Master's Degree programs in Dental Sciences. These are credit hour system programs, each composed of six semesters equivalent to 120 credit hours (except for Endodontics, Operative Dentistry, Oral Medicine, Periodontology and Oral Diagnosis, and Pediatric Dentistry, which are 52 credit hours). The programs are designed to build skills and experience using a student-centered and self-learning approach supported by course guides and well-equipped research labs. The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education also approves the programs. The Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Dentistry aspires to influence Egypt’s vision implementation in applied research and education through future collaborations and the development of high-impact sustainable practice in community wellbeing. The mission is to achieve interdisciplinary research, learning opportunities and approaches by implementing a nourishing environment that stimulates the production of employable capable graduates with goals aligned with national and international standards. Program duration is a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years, including obligatory courses, elective courses, and thesis components. A 75% attendance rate is mandatory for each course, along with fulfilling practical or clinical requirements. A CGPA of 2.0 or more is required for thesis proposal submission, thesis defense, and graduation.
Assessment:
The assessment includes a thesis dissertation research work equivalent to twelve (12) credit hours, registered across semesters including summer semesters if needed. The distribution of thesis credit hours must be approved by the thesis supervisors. Candidates must achieve a CGPA of 2.0 or more for thesis proposal submission, thesis defense, and graduation. Candidates must also complete an adequate number and variety of acceptable fully documented and treated cases, literature reviews, seminars, and comprehensive case studies, approved by the course director and head of the department, and certified by the head of graduate studies. These requirements must be completed before examination for each course. Failure to pass a core module on the second attempt results in dismissal from the program.
