The BI-Jönköping University Pathway Programme prepares international students for entry into BI Norwegian Business School's English-taught bachelor's programs. Offered in two tracks based on English proficiency, it covers academic foundations, Scandinavian culture, and English language improvement. Upon successful completion, students are eligible for admission to BI's bachelor's programs, with conditional acceptance granted at the start of the Pathway Programme. The program also provides an immersion into Scandinavian life and society.

The BI-Jönköping University Pathway Programme is a joint program created by BI Norwegian Business School and Jönköping University. The program aims to prepare students academically for BI's three-year English-taught bachelor's programs. It focuses on building a solid academic foundation, familiarizing students with Scandinavian life and culture, and improving English language competency and proficiency. The program is held at Jönköping University in Sweden (Gränna or Jönköping campuses) or online. It is intended for students who may lack the necessary qualifications for direct admission to BI's bachelor programs due to their high school diploma or English proficiency level.

The Pathway Programme offers two tracks, determined by the student's English language proficiency:

  • BI-JU English Track (entry level IELTS 5.0 or equivalent):
  • Autumn Semester:
  • English 1 (20 credits)
  • Life & Studies in Scandinavia 1 (2.5 credits)
  • Mathematics 1 (7.5 credits)
  • Spring Semester:
  • English 2 (20 credits)
  • Life & Studies in Scandinavia 2 (2.5 credits)
  • Study Skills, Intercultural Competence and Advanced Literacies (7.5 credits)
  • BI-JU General Track (entry level IELTS 5.5 or equivalent):
  • Autumn Semester:
  • English 2 (20 credits)
  • Life & Studies in Scandinavia 1 (2.5 credits)
  • Mathematics 1 (7.5 credits)
  • Spring Semester:

Other:

Successful completion of the Pathway Programme is a prerequisite for official admission to BI's English-language bachelor's programs. Upon admission to Jönköping University, students receive confirmation of a study place at BI, conditional on passing all Pathway courses. The official application to BI occurs in the spring. The program introduces students to Scandinavian society and culture.

The Pathway Programme is designed for international students who cannot directly apply to BI Norwegian Business School's three-year bachelor's programs.


English proficiency below BI's admission requirement:

Applicants need a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent to be eligible for the Pathway Programme. Direct admission to BI's bachelor's programs requires IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 80 or equivalent.


Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Minimum Requirement for Pathway Programme: IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
  • BI Bachelor's Programme Admission Requirement: IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 80 or equivalent.
  • The Pathway Programme is designed to help students meet this higher requirement. The program offers two tracks depending on the applicant's initial English proficiency:
