Program Overview
The two-week program covers topics like programming, materials and design, and digital electronics, promoting transferable skills such as problem-solving and teamwork. Students receive individualized attention in small classes and a course attendance certificate, along with a report card highlighting their progress.
Program Outline
Degree Overview:
The Advanced Engineering course prepares students for a career in engineering by combining creativity with mathematics and physics to design and manufacture machines, technologies, and systems. The program complements engineering knowledge with practical and transferable skills such as design, business, and management. The course offers opportunities to work on current research and industry projects (additive manufacturing and robotics), participate in a team project to design and build a small mobile robot or other automatic devices, and develop leadership, entrepreneurial, and management skills through short industry-linked projects.
Outline:
The course uses a multidisciplinary approach covering programming, structural engineering, mechatronic systems, materials and design, digital electronics, and design studio. It also teaches transferable skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and resource management. Teaching methods include lectures, workshops, tutorials, and practical classes. The course includes over 20 hours of tuition. The program provides a course attendance certificate at a graduation ceremony, along with a report card highlighting what students learned and suggesting areas for improvement. Recommendation letters are available upon request.
Teaching:
The course is taught by expert tutors. The teaching methods are a combination of lectures, workshops, tutorials, and practical classes.
Careers:
The course prepares students for careers in engineering, specifically in the design and manufacture of complex mechanical systems using electronics, software, and electrical systems.
Other:
The program includes accommodation in prestigious University of Oxford colleges, a graduation ceremony, cultural excursions across the UK, and meals. The program is offered by Oxford Medwell Academy (OMA), which emphasizes its world-class summer educational and cultural experiences, access to leading university facilities, highly qualified teachers, small class sizes, and a comprehensive residential experience with full-board accommodation and various activities. 24-hour porter services are available in all University of Oxford colleges used for the program.
