Program Overview


The MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Computer Science provides a comprehensive foundation in programming, database management, website design, and networking. Through a blend of classroom instruction and work-based learning, students develop essential skills for careers in computer science, with a focus on practical experience and project development. The program is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority and prepares graduates for further studies or diverse computer and data science careers.

Degree Overview:

The MQF Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Computer Science is a blended program designed to provide a foundational/intermediate level education in programming fundamentals, website design, and database management. It aims to develop students' understanding of computer science and equip them with the skills necessary to pursue a career in the field. The program goes beyond theory, allowing students to develop their own projects and gain practical experience through real-world work experiences.


Outline:

The program covers a range of topics, including:

  • Programming Fundamentals: Students will learn core programming concepts and languages, enabling them to create basic programs.
  • Database Management: Students will explore database design principles and SQL, learning how to store, manage, and analyze data effectively.
  • Networking Essentials: Students will learn to work with key protocols and hardware like local area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), and wireless connectivity.

Assessment:

The program utilizes a variety of formative and summative individual and group-based assessments to evaluate learners' understanding of the learning outcomes. These include:

  • Examinations
  • Individual and group presentations
  • In-class quizzes
  • Practical assessments

Teaching:
