Program Overview


The International Foundation Programme in Engineering is a two or three-term course that provides international students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed on their chosen Engineering university course in the UK. The program includes academic modules in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Computer Science, as well as study skills and one-to-one tutorials. Upon successful completion of the program, students are guaranteed admission to at least one of 17 British and international universities.

The International Foundation Programme in Engineering is a two or three-term course designed for international students who wish to progress onto undergraduate courses in the UK to study Engineering and other related fields. The program aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed on their chosen university course. The main modules are: These modules cover waves, oscillations, electricity, nature of light, electric and magnetic fields, particle physics, thermal energy, nuclear decay, momentum, circular motion, and practical investigation.

  • Mathematics: Core Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
  • These modules cover algebra and functions, frequency and coding, solving quadratic functions, estimation, and hypothesis testing. Further Mathematics also introduces topics in Mechanics.
  • Chemistry: Core Chemistry and Advanced Chemistry.
  • These modules cover the fundamentals of physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry, including atomic structure, fundamental particles, the arrangement of electrons in an atom, calculating amounts of substances, writing formulae and balancing equations, types of chemical bonding and structures, energetics, rates of reaction and equilibria, exothermic and endothermic reactions, multi-step calculations, organic chemistry, and additional functional groups of aromatic molecules.
  • Computer Science: This module covers programming, databases, networks, and web development.

Teaching:

The program emphasizes developing the learning skills required for studies at higher education level in the UK, encouraging students to evaluate and apply information, and to develop the problem-solving skills required at the undergraduate level. The program also includes:
