Program Overview
The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification Program supports first-generation, under-resourced entrepreneurs in Washington, D.C. Through 15 weeks of virtual training, business planning coaching, and networking opportunities, the program equips participants with the skills and resources to launch their businesses. The program is free of charge for eligible District of Columbia residents between 18 and 24 years old.

The Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) Certification Program is designed to support first-generation, under-resourced entrepreneurs in Washington, D.C. It provides a comprehensive program that includes:
- 15 weeks of intensive classroom training: This training covers various aspects of entrepreneurship and small business management.
- Business planning and coaching: Participants receive guidance and support in developing their business plans.
- Marketing tools: The program equips entrepreneurs with the necessary marketing resources to promote their businesses.
- Seed investment: The program offers potential seed funding to help entrepreneurs launch their businesses.
Teaching:
The program is delivered through a fully virtual training platform called COMMUNIVERSITY.

- Funding: The program is currently funded by the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) and is offered free of charge to eligible District of Columbia residents.
- Eligibility: Participants must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 18 and 24 years old
- Have a high school diploma
- Program Outcomes: Successful program participants will leave with the following:
- Business plan
- Business license
- Logo
- Electronic business card
- Custom domain
- Personal email address
- Access to videos, apps, intros, royalty-free high-resolution photos
- Opportunity to pitch for cash in quarterly competitions
- Program Partner: The program is offered in partnership with the Resident Owned Business Incubator (ROBI).
