Course Schedule:

• Full-time students attend for two days each week, engaging in formal lectures, informal seminars, and group discussions.
• Part-time students attend one day per week.
• Distance learning students follow a structured study plan provided on the VLE, supported by discussion forums, email, and telephone conversations with the module leader.

• Engineering Business Environment and Research Methods: This module provides a foundation in business and research methodologies relevant to the field of sustainable development.
• Resource Efficient Design and Manufacture (optional): This module explores design and manufacturing principles focused on resource efficiency and sustainability.
• Sustainable Energy and Transport: This module examines various sustainable energy sources and their applications in transportation systems.

Assessment:

• All assessment is by coursework.
• Each taught module includes two coursework assignments:
• A smaller assignment with prompt feedback during the module.
• A major assignment submitted after the material has been assimilated.
• Students complete either an individual dissertation or a team-based design project.
• All students participate in the annual MSc conference, where final year students present their work.

Teaching:

• Full-time students attend 2-4 hours of timetabled taught sessions each week for each module during term time, totaling 12 hours per week for full-time study.
• Students are expected to undertake 6 hours of independent study and assignments per week.
• Teaching methods include formal lectures, informal seminars, group discussions, and self-directed study.
• All teaching material is available on the web-based virtual learning environment (VLE).
• The teaching team comprises experienced researchers and teaching staff who embed industry-relevant case studies into the course.
