Program Overview


The BS-MS Option in Water Resources at UAEU is an accelerated pathway for undergraduate students to earn a Master's degree in one additional year after completing their Bachelor's. Students can double count up to six credit hours of undergraduate electives towards both degrees, saving time and money. The program prepares students for careers in industrial development, government, consulting, or academia, and provides advanced knowledge and skills in water resources management.

  • Proficiency in English demonstrated by a score of 6.0 on IELTS or equivalent.
  • Acceptance of responsibility for graduate study fees.
  • Early Admission Procedure:
  • Fill the BS-MS form and submit to the college for review.
  • Submission deadline follows the University Master application deadline.
  • Academic Advising Guidelines:
  • Technical Elective form must be filled by the BS-MS student before the first week of the semester in which they will take the BS-MS technical elective courses and/or master level courses.
  • Up to two technical elective courses can be double counted for BS-MS students and will be transferred to their M.Sc.
  • degrees upon joining the M.Sc. program.
  • Additional work (term project, extra assignments, etc.)
  • may be required for double-counted courses, decided by the course instructor in consultation with the BS-MS student.
  • A grade of "B" or better is required in a course to qualify for transfer to the M.Sc.
  • degree.
  • Probation and Dismissal from the BS-MS Status:
  • All applicable UAEU policies and procedures regarding academic progress of students will apply.
  • If a BS-MS student cannot maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more for the graduate courses, they will be placed on probation with possible dismissal from the M.Sc.

  • BS-MS Courses:
  • Students can take any two 500 level courses from any of the Bachelor programs' elective baskets available at the college, which will be counted towards their Master of Science in Water Resources.
  • Students must consult with the Master Program Coordinator and their advisor in the Bachelor program before taking these courses.
  • These courses contribute 6 credit hours.
  • Master of Science in Water Resources Courses:
  • Students may also take 1-2 courses from the Master of Science in Water Resources during their Bachelor program.
  • These courses contribute 6 credit hours.
