Program Overview
An Undergraduate Foundation is a one-year (3 term) programme which offers successful students a pathway to UK university. Students will typically study 3-4 subjects, depending on the pathway chosen or the intended progression degree, as well as English Language. One of the most important requirements for university entry is English language level and as well as filling any academic gaps, English language is critical for success. Students, on average, may spend up to five hours per week per subject in class and be expected to allocate a similar number of hours to independent study. Program Outline
Degree Overview:
The MBS-HAT Track is a new track under the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) program. It aims to introduce basic science concepts in thrombosis and hemostasis, along with research methods and presentation skills. The track focuses on:
- Biochemistry: Exploring the chemical processes involved in hemostasis and thrombosis.
- Basic genetics: Examining the genetic factors influencing coagulation disorders.
- Laboratory testing: Learning about various coagulation tests and their interpretation.
- Quality management systems: Introducing principles and applications of quality management in laboratory testing.
- Research principles: Strengthening research skills and methodologies.
- Clinical practice: Improving clinical practice in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis.
- Thesis writing: Developing skills to write a thesis in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. The program is designed for individuals with a Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS, MD) or a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences. It is taught over two years and aims to provide graduates with advanced knowledge in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. Upon completion, students are awarded a Master of Biomedical Sciences degree in thrombosis and hemostasis from Alfaisal University.
