PhD in Islamic Studies
Program Overview
The PhD program in Islamic Studies at UoD offers four specializations: Jurisprudence, Doctrine, Interpretation, and Hadith. The program consists of 32 credit units, including 20 study units and 12 units for thesis preparation. The program is designed to prepare students for research and teaching in the field of Islamic Studies. The program includes courses on Quranic exegesis, Hadith studies, Islamic jurisprudence, and Islamic doctrine.

Degree Overview:
The PhD Program in Islamic Studies began in the 984-1985 CE/1404-1405 AH academic year. The Department of Islamic Studies has been awarding PhD’s to women who have later gone on to conduct research as well as teach at UoD. Islamic Studies contains four specializations:
- Jurisprudence and its Fundamentals
- Doctrine & contemporary Ideologies
- Interpretation and Qur'anic Sciences
- Al Hadith and its Sciences

The program is conducted through courses and a dissertation.
Graduation Requirements:
- 20 study units + 12 Thesis
Study Plan:
The study plan shall consist of six semesters, two of which for studying of courses and four semesters for preparation of the thesis, the study plan depends on study of the prescribed courses and preparation of the thesis and the student shall not register his thesis unless after passing the examination of all courses with a minimum very good grade.

The Program consists of thirty-two (32) credit units consisting of twenty study units and 12 units for preparation of the thesis.
