- Seagoing Service: Shall fulfill the requirements of one of the following streams:
- 1st stream: Have an approved seagoing service of not less than 6 months on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more on ocean going voyages after the date of holding the 3rd officer certificate of competency.
- 2nd stream:
- Have completed a basic study program of at least 2 years in the recognized maritime institution.
- Have an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months following Guided/planned Sea training program in the capacity of deck cadet on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more on ocean going voyages.
- During the required seagoing service, bridge watchkeeping duties under the supervision of the master or a qualified officer for a period of not less than six months. The sea training has to be documented in the Candidate’s approved training record book.
- Have completed the required upgrading training course in the recognized maritime institution.
- 3rd stream:
- Have Completed study program of at least 4 years in the recognized maritime institution, which includes the required upgrading training course and an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months following Guided/planned Sea training program in the capacity of deck cadet on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more on ocean going voyages.
- During the required seagoing service, bridge watchkeeping duties under the supervision of the master or a qualified officer for a period of not less than six months. The sea training has to be documented in the Candidate’s approved training record book.
