  • Advanced Systems Modelling & Control (ELEC476): Provides advanced modeling, simulation, and control techniques.
  • Plasma System Engineering (ELEC391): Covers electrical plasmas, their industrial applications, and plasma-material processes.
  • RF Engineering and Applied Electromagnetics (ELEC311): Introduces high-frequency electromagnetics, circuit design techniques, and microwave and RF circuit design.
  • Antennas (ELEC312): Covers antenna theory, design, and applications.
  • Electromagnetic Compatibility (ELEC382): Explores EMC, standards, typical problems, and solutions.
  • Mobile Communications and Security (ELEC463): Covers mobile and wireless communications, including cellular communications, WiFi, ZigBee, and LoRa/LoRaWAN.

Year Two:

  • Compulsory Modules:
  • MSc Industrial Project (ELEC499): A 60-credit module involving a real-world industrial project undertaken during the placement.
  • MSc Placement Experience (ELEC498): A 60-credit module covering the generic elements of the industrial placement.

Assessment:

  • Year One: Modules are assessed through a combination of examinations and coursework, including laboratory reports, assignments, essays, class tests, and presentations.
  • Year Two: The second year is assessed through a portfolio of evidence from the industrial placement and a major project undertaken in the placement setting.

Teaching:

  • The first year of the program is taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, practical laboratory sessions, guided reading, student-centered learning, and project work.
  • The second year involves an industrial placement in a real-world engineering environment.

Careers:

  • Graduates are well-prepared for careers in telecommunications engineering, wireless networking engineering, design, development, research, manufacturing, maintenance, and consultancy.
  • The program's accreditation by the IET provides a pathway towards achieving Chartered Engineer status.
  • Graduates have secured positions with companies such as Huawei, EE, and Imagination Technologies.
  • The analytical, communication, and IT skills developed in the program also prepare graduates for non-engineering roles and potential PhD study.
