Program Overview
This three-level program in Advanced Practice Midwifery provides midwifery students with a comprehensive education in person-centered care, professional ethics, and leadership. Graduates are eligible to register as Registered Midwife Prescribers or Advanced Midwife Practitioners with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. The program utilizes a blended learning approach and assesses students through written and practical assignments.

Outline:
- The program consists of three levels: Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, and Master of Science.
- The Postgraduate Certificate comprises two specialist modules: Decision Making and Advanced Practice Professional roles; Advanced Practice in the Clinical Practicum with defined pathways.
- The Postgraduate Diploma comprises three additional modules: Professional, Ethical, Legal and Communication Issues informing Nurse and Midwife Prescribing and Clinical Practicum; Advanced Health Assessment; Prescribing Medicinal Products & Ionising Radiation.
- The Master of Science comprises three additional modules, including a dissertation module: Leadership, Quality Improvement and Governance; Advanced Research Methods for Healthcare Professionals; Dissertation in Advanced Practice.
Careers:
- Graduates of this course will be eligible to apply to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland for registration as a Registered Midwife Prescriber (RMP).
- Applicants who already have a Masters in Midwifery and who are active as a (RMP) may be eligible to complete a one year Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Practice (Midwifery) and be eligible to apply to register as an Advanced Midwife Practitioner with the NMBI.

- The program enables students to practice at the highest professional standards across the spectrum of care.
- The program prepares suitably qualified, experienced midwives, who wish to pursue a career as an Advanced Midwife Practitioner, to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes.
- The program uses a blended learning approach in the delivery of theoretical content which includes lectures, group discussions and self-directed learning/online learning.
- The assessment process is a combination of written and practical assignments.
