Program Overview
The Law and German degree program combines a foundation in Irish Law with fluency in German and knowledge of German culture. Students spend an Erasmus year in Germany, gaining exposure to the German legal system. The program prepares graduates for careers in law, business, journalism, and other fields, both in Ireland and Europe.

Degree Overview:
Ireland's membership in the European Union and globalization have increased the need for lawyers to understand other legal systems and cultures. The Law and German degree courses address this need by providing students with a foundation in Irish Law, fluency in German, and knowledge of German culture, politics, economics, and sociology.
Outline:
The Law and German degree program offers a unique opportunity to study core and specialized legal modules, as well as the language, culture, and political systems of Germany. Students must undertake an Erasmus year in Germany, exposing them to the law of that legal system.
Assessment:
A combination of assignments and aural, oral, and written examinations is used.
Teaching:
The class sizes are small, fostering a close collegial relationship with peers and members of both schools.
Careers:
The increasing Europeanization of legal practice means that graduates of this program have much to contribute to the legal and other professions in Ireland, as well as enjoying career opportunities in Europe. In addition to careers in the legal profession, Law and German graduates also find employment in business, journalism, accountancy, banking, insurance, politics, foreign affairs and diplomacy, and public services.
