Program Overview
The School of Sociology at UCD offers PhD and MLitt programs. The PhD is a 4 year full-time or 5-6 year part-time program that culminates in a thesis. The MLitt is a 2 year full-time program that also culminates in a thesis. Both programs provide students with the opportunity to conduct original research under the supervision of faculty members.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants must normally have a first or upper second-class honours primary degree and/or masters degree, or the equivalent. In circumstances where examination results are not known at the time of application, the School of Sociology may make a Conditional Offer subject to receiving a complete and final transcript confirming that the applicant has met the above requirements. Notarised English translations, as well as the original transcript, should be provided where relevant giving details of all courses taken and examination marks obtained.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
Candidates must demonstrate that they have met the UCD minimum English Language Entry Requirements. A degree taken in English in a native English-speaking country is acceptable. A wide range of other qualifications, such as IELTS or TOEFL, are also accepted.
Huge and always expanding. Lots of course options and the professors care a lot about what they teach. Huge amount of students and clubs so there is something for everyone.
Finished my Masters in Food Safety here in 2019. Quality of education is pretty good. Facilities are on point. One of the better universities in Ireland. A lot of extra curricular activities organised all round the year. No racism or any other issue as per my experience. Teaching staff is quite knowledgeable. I loved my time there. 10/10
