Through a comprehensive curriculum covering anatomy, physiology, contraindications, and exercise progression, participants develop the expertise to create safe and effective exercise programs tailored to the unique needs of cardiac clients. The program includes practical application in a Phase 4 cardiac rehabilitation class.
Program Outline
The program also covers the patient's journey through different phases of cardiac rehabilitation, from the initial cardiac event (Phase 1) to community-based rehabilitation (Phase 4).
Objectives:
- Gain knowledge and understanding of the cardiovascular system.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of cardiac pathology and risk factors contributing to heart disease.
- Understand contraindications to exercise training in the cardiac population.
- Demonstrate knowledge/understanding of adaptive changes to exercise in the cardiac population.
- Apply learning in a practical setting (Phase 4 cardiac rehabilitation class).
