  • Overview: This Masters program consolidates core disciplines to address a rapidly increasing skill gap in the healthcare and biomedical research sector.
  • AI is already revolutionizing medical imaging, digital pathology, pharmaceutical research, and remote sensing and connected health. In the era of genomic medicine AI will transform the way we diagnose and treat diseases reducing the impact of the healthcare crisis in industrialised countries caused by cancer, obesity and diabetes.
  • Objectives: The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to apply AI to medical and biological data, enabling them to contribute to the advancement of healthcare and biomedical research.
  • Description: The program combines teaching in data analytics, machine learning/AI, systems biology, precision medicine, health informatics and connected health.
  • It is divided into two parts:
  • Introductory Modules:
  • Eight mandatory modules and seven optional modules leading to a graduate diploma (60 ECTS). These modules aim to familiarize students with the basic concepts of biology and medicine through examples and the analysis of relevant data sets.
  • Advanced Modules: Three advanced modules leading to a Master of Science, Medicine degree (90 ECTS).
  • These modules focus on AI applications and include project work.

  • State-of-the-art methods in AI/Machine Learning and their applications to biological and medical data
  • Programming and tools for AI
  • Tools and methods for large scale data analytics

  • Design of biological and medical research projects
  • Ethical and privacy issues associated with the use of medical and biological data and analysis results
