Program Overview
This physics program with a specialization in nanotechnology provides students with a strong foundation in physics principles and advanced knowledge in nanotechnology. Graduates are prepared for careers in industry research and development, government, defense, and various private and public sector positions. The program emphasizes transferable skills such as computation, data analysis, communication, and project management, ensuring employability even outside the field of physics.
Program Outline
Careers:
With robust physics training and specialist nanotechnology expertise, you’ll have a huge range of career options to choose from, including the chance to become a nanotechnologist. Industry research and development will be interested in your experimental skills and intellectual curiosity. Many of our physics graduates continue their research at PhD level or find work in the private and public sectors, including: government, defence, finance, business, and industry. Graduate roles include: astrophysicist acoustician bioinformatics specialist data analyst government science policy officer medical physicist satellite engineers science communicators systems analyst web developer If you decide on a career outside physics, you’ll be able to demonstrate transferable skills such as computation and coding, statistical analysis, communication and project management. During year 2 you’ll have access to a programme of physics-focused career sessions, timetabled to fit in with your studies. These include application and interview workshops and talks from visiting professionals.
