Environmental Health : Industrial Hygiene
Program Overview
This Ph.D. program in Environmental and Occupational Health equips students to recognize and evaluate health hazards in environmental and occupational settings. Graduates specialize in one of three areas: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Ergonomics, or Biomonitoring. The program is supported by an NIH training grant and lasts six years, offering full-time study on the East Campus.

All students learn to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and design programs and systems to control exposures in the environmental or occupational setting that are causing or may be expected to result in adverse human health effects. Academic study at the Ph.D. level is available in three areas of concentration: Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Ergonomics, Biomonitoring. Graduate study is supported by a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research training grant, University and other resources.
