Degree Overview:
The Cannabis Studies Certificate is a multi-disciplinary program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the cannabis plant and the cannabis industry. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in various subfields within the growing cannabis industry.
Careers:
The program prepares students for a variety of careers in the cannabis industry, including:
- Cultivation: Growing and managing cannabis plants.
- Processing: Extracting and preparing cannabis products.
- Testing Laboratories: Analyzing cannabis products for quality and safety.
- Dispensaries: Selling and dispensing cannabis products.
- Physicians: Providing medical advice and treatment related to cannabis.
- Ancillary Positions: Roles in product design, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, sales, accounting, legal, social media, security, and quality control.
Other:
- The certificate is open to students already pursuing a degree in any college at UC.
- Students not currently pursuing a degree can declare the certificate after establishing non-matriculated status.
- Students should work with their major advisors to confirm the compatibility of the certificate with their major's requirements and course schedules.
- The certificate program director should be informed when a student is finishing the program.
- The certificate will be reviewed at the time a student submits their separate degree application if they are pursuing another bachelor's degree.
