The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program at the University of Cincinnati prepares students to become experts in the IT industry by focusing on essential IT concepts. The program offers four concentrations:
- Data Technologies: This concentration focuses on the analysis, management, and utilization of data.
- Game Development and Simulation: This concentration focuses on the design, development, and implementation of games and simulations. Students learn about game engines, programming languages, and game design principles.
- Networking and Systems Administration: This concentration focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of computer networks. Students learn about network protocols, network security, and system administration.
- Software Application Development: This concentration focuses on the design, development, and implementation of software applications. Students learn about programming languages, software development methodologies, and software testing. Students gain practical experience through the development and creation of an IT solution in their senior year and learn from current professionals through co-op experiences.
Teaching:
The BSIT program emphasizes hands-on learning, with almost all major courses requiring projects and lab experience. Students participate in a two-semester senior design experience, where they develop a real-life IT solution and present it to the community at the annual IT Expo.
