Program Overview
The University of Massachusetts Amherst's PhD in Management prepares students for academic careers by developing their research, teaching, and management expertise. Tailoring their studies to their interests, students select a major concentration and minor concentration from areas such as accounting or hospitality and tourism management. Through hands-on research and teaching experiences, graduates emerge as scholars equipped to contribute to the field of organizational management. Applications are due December 15, 2024.

Degree Overview:
The PhD in management prepares students to become scholars capable of teaching and conducting research related to the management of organizations. The program focuses on building competence in research methodology (including statistics) and economics or behavioral sciences. Students choose a major area of concentration (accounting, finance, hospitality and tourism management, management science, marketing, or sport management) and an allied area of minor concentration to tailor their studies to their interests. The program includes hands-on experience through designing, executing, and completing a significant research project, as well as teaching in their area of interest.
