Program Overview

This Commonwealth College honors course, Behavioral Neuroendocrinology, explores the interplay between the endocrine and nervous systems in controlling behaviors such as reproduction, aggression, and food intake. Open to PSYCH majors, the course emphasizes research findings and examines how the brain modifies hormone levels in response to environmental changes and stress. Neuroscience track students are preferred, but non-honors students may inquire about enrollment if space permits.

• Course Description: "Behavior is generated by the interplay between hormones and the brain.
In this course, human and animal research will be examined to explore how the endocrine and nervous systems interact to control functions such as reproductive behaviors, aggression, and food intake. The course will also examine how the brain modifies hormone levels to cope with changing environmental conditions and stress."
• Eligibility: Open to Commonwealth College PSYCH majors only.
• Notes: Neuroscience track students preferred.
Interested non-honors students should email the instructor. Space permitting, the major restriction will be lifted after all PSYCH majors have had an opportunity to enroll.
