With flexible study options, gain practical experience through 40 days of teaching practice, a 45-day internship, and a professional research project. Outline:

The Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) is a postgraduate coursework degree designed to enhance your teaching, decision-making, leadership, and practical skills. The curriculum includes:

  • Core units in education and curriculum
  • Specialised professional units of study
  • Practical experience through practicum placements
  • A culminating capstone project, involving an internship in an early childhood setting and a practitioner research project

Teaching:

Our program places a strong emphasis on practical experience, with significant professional placements in a range of early childhood settings. These placements commence in the second semester of the course and progressively increase in responsibility and duration, culminating in the final internship where students are competent to teach with some supervision, while exercising a greater level of professional agency.

Early childhood is a high priority for both Commonwealth and state governments in Australia. Qualified early-childhood teachers are in high demand. Our graduates are employed in a broad range of careers and roles, including:

COVID-19 vaccination requirement

For placement in other early childhood services, students need to meet any requirements relating to NSW Public Health Orders issued under the Public Health Act 2010 NSW. Failure to meet these requirements may result in students being unable to complete their degree.

This course requires you to complete the following number of work hours:

  • 35 hours per week over 17 weeks
  • 595 Total hours
