Program Overview
The Master of Dental Public Health at the University of Sydney is a one-year full-time (or part-time) program designed for professionals seeking advanced skills in oral health surveillance, research, and service delivery. Graduates are eligible for specialist recognition in public health dentistry with the Dental Board of Australia. Graduates will gain advanced skills in oral health surveillance, research and optimisation of oral health services and delivery. The course is designed for registered dentists in Australia seeking specialist recognition and those who are seeking a premier education in dental public health, such as other dental practitioners, international dentists and non-dentally qualified individuals working in oral health/public health.

- Units of Study: The Master of Dental Public Health is a postgraduate coursework degree that will give you advanced skills in oral health surveillance, policy development, community-based disease prevention, health promotion, research, and optimisation of oral health services and delivery. Graduates from this program who are also registered dentists will be eligible to apply for registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a dental specialist in public health dentistry.
- You will complete core units in dental health services, population oral health and preventative dentistry, in addition to capstone and research project units.
- You will also complete elective units as needed to make up the requirements of the course. Handbooks for future years, including for new courses commencing in a future year will progressively be available in November each year.

- Teaching Methods: The program offers immersive clinical experiences in the cutting-edge facilities of the Sydney Dental Hospital. We’ve invested $9.4m into our new Sydney Dental School Simulation Centre to create dedicated simulation-based learning spaces for dental practitioners.
