The program aims to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to become registered nurse practitioners in Australia, enabling them to work autonomously and collaboratively in various healthcare settings.


Program Description:

This postgraduate coursework degree is designed for registered nurses working at an advanced practice level who are looking to build specialist professional practice capabilities leading to endorsement as a nurse practitioner. Graduates will be recognized as having advanced knowledge relevant to the nurse practitioner application with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

  • Facilities: You will learn in our state-of-the-art Susan Wakil Health Building, with access to brand new clinical simulation teaching spaces, research facilities, a multi-service clinic and a brand new library.

Careers:

  • Career Paths: Offered only at a master's level, completion of our Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) will make you eligible to apply for authorisation as a nurse practitioner in Australia, graduating with the skills and expertise to make a substantial contribution to future healthcare policy and direction.
  • Professional Accreditation: Graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a nurse practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Other:

  • Course Structure: You will complete core units according to a prescribed course of study, along with a professional practice capstone and 300 hours of supernumerary integrated professional practice.
  • Professional Practice: Throughout the course of the degree, students will need to submit evidence of 300 advanced professional practice hours reflective of Supernumerary Integrated Professional Practice (SIPP).
  • Capstone: Students in their final year of study will undertake two units of study (one of which is a capstone) that are designed to provide you with an opportunity to draw together the learning that has taken place during the award, synthesize this with their prior learning and experience, and draw conclusions that will form the basis for further investigation and intellectual and/or professional growth.
