Degree Overview:

Develop your fiction, nonfiction, poetry and life writing. Gain deep understanding of relevant theories and histories as you learn core skills of creative writing, structuring, and editing. Access Sydney’s literary life through a constant calendar of readings, events, and celebrated visitors. If you want to improve your creative writing skills, learn to read like a writer and develop your professional writing practice in a rigorous and supportive workshop environment, this course will suit you.

  • Location: Camperdown/Darlington University of Sydney
  • Study mode: Face to face
  • Credit points: 24

What you’ll study:

This degree offers intimate access to Sydney's literary life, including major literary and cultural events and institutions with which the University has close ties, such as the Sydney Writers' Festival. You will experience a constant calendar of readings, performances and community events, as well as a host of celebrated visitors in a superb research environment. We support all kinds of literary ambition in a setting that builds capacity, encourages diversity and experimentation, and supports professional writing. Fundamental to this degree are the core skills of writing, structuring and editing.


You will complete:

  • 24 credit points including 12 credit points from selective units of study; and
  • 12 credit points from elective units of study, including one introductory workshop selective unit of study.
