Program Overview
The Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services combines theory and practice to prepare students for careers in social work and community services. The program offers a specialization in domestic and family violence and aligns with industry standards set by the Australian Association of Social Workers. Students gain foundational knowledge and skills for entry-level roles in various human service organizations, including mental health services, women's services, and disability support.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Human and Community Services may seek employment in human service organisations such as neighbourhood centres, aged care and disability services.
Other:
This qualification offers the first and only specialisation in domestic and family violence, an important area of research and practice in Australia. The domestic and family violence specialisation will provide students with an understanding of the nature, extent and effects of violence against women and children in local, national and global contexts. Students will be able to identify short and long term impacts of violence against women and children and the implications for practice in a variety of contexts. The Masters version of this program is recognised by the Australian Association of Social Workers and aligned with the association’s key priority learning areas for accreditation: child protection; cross-cultural practice; standards for practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities; and mental health.
