Program Overview
The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) program at the University of Sydney trains dentists for specialist practice in prosthodontics or hospital clinics. Led by expert clinicians and researchers, this clinically-based program includes blocks of seminars, preclinical sessions, and a supervised research project. Degree Overview:
Our Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) trains qualified dentists for specialist practice in prosthodontics or a specialist clinic in a hospital. Develop clinical skills in advanced restorative dentistry, contemporary prosthodontics and includes a comprehensive component of orofacial pain.
Outline:
- The program is primarily clinical based with blocks of seminars and preclinical sessions.
- You will also be required to complete a research project in the field of prosthodontics or restorative dentistry, under the supervision of an academic staff member.
- This course has a mandatory professional practice work component where subject to contract with the Local Health District (LHD), you may be paid for some clinical sessions (conditions apply), once enrolled in the course.

- The program will be directed by Associate Professor Dale Howes and presented by specialist clinicians and researchers.
- You will learn from expert dental professionals and researchers and have access to the latest technology, facilities and teaching laboratories, so you can develop your psychomotor, cognitive and affective skills and improve your confidence to perform specialist dental procedures.

- This course prepares candidates for work in a specialist practice in prosthodontics or a specialist clinic in a hospital.
- Advanced restorative and prosthodontic services are increasingly in demand in rural areas, as most specialist practices are based in metropolitan areas.

- Graduates can apply for registration as a dental specialist with the Dental Board of Australia (AHPRA).
