Program Overview


The Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Environmental Engineering equips you to address complex environmental challenges through sustainable solutions in energy, water, and waste management. With a focus on reducing engineering footprints, you'll specialize in water treatment, energy optimization, or geotechnical engineering, preparing you for a career in environmental protection and sustainability. The program offers hands-on projects, industry engagement opportunities, and an honors thesis to enhance your practical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Degree Overview:

Gain expertise in sustainable energy, water supply, waste treatment, and environmental monitoring, and develop and design sustainable solutions for complex environmental issues. Acquire knowledge of environmental systems through the study of chemical, civil and mechanical engineering. Choose to specialise in advanced water treatment and purification technologies, energy optimisation, or geotechnical engineering.


Outline:

The BEHons (Environmental) will give you the necessary skills to address environmental issues and provide effective solutions. In the first two years, you must complete degree foundational core units, including mathematics and computing, and a series of hands-on multidisciplinary projects. As you progress to your final years, you will focus on stream core units designed to provide you with a unique career pathway, emphasising environmental and sustainability. In addition, you will complete elective units that allow you to specialise in specific areas of environmental engineering. You will complete an honours thesis that provides practical experience while drawing inspiration from real-world environmental challenges to address unique problems with self-direction and creativity. Throughout your degree, you will undertake professional engagement activities as part of the Professional Engagement Program, including engineering work experience in the final year.
