Program Overview


The Advanced Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) provides advanced training for students pursuing careers in emergency medicine, anesthetics, or intensive care medicine. The flexible, online program includes coursework in core and stream-specific units, as well as a research project and the opportunity to develop skills in teaching, simulation, and research. Graduates are well-prepared to pass relevant college entry exams, fulfill research requirements, and become successful clinicians in their chosen field.

Degree Overview:

Our course has been designed by critical care clinicians for students interested in emergency medicine, anaesthetics and intensive care medicine. Students will have a range of subjects to choose from as they develop skills in teaching, simulation and research. This course is only available to students currently enrolled in our Master of Science in Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) who meet the criteria for admission.


Outline:

The Advanced Master of Medicine (Critical Care Medicine) is made up of 60 credit points of study including:

  • 12 credit points of compulsory units of study;
  • 24 credit points of stream specific units of study;
  • 12 credit points of stream specific or general elective units of study; and
  • 12 credit points of research project units in an area of specific interest relevant to their master's degree.
  • If you are interested in this option, it is recommended that you complete PUBH5018 Introductory Biostatistics as one of your elective units. The course can be studied full-time or part-time and is delivered online with intensive face-to-face components.
