The Bachelor of Environment and Bachelor of Ancient History is a double degree program that explores critical environmental systems and processes, relationships between humans and their environments, and the interactions that influence sustainable futures. It is founded in the scientific aspects of the environment, the effects of human-induced changes, and the management of resources. - Students will undertake field trips in Australia and overseas, gaining practical experience in places in New South Wales, such as Seal Rocks and Wee Jasper, and in New Zealand and further afield.
- They will have access to resources in the Macquarie University History Museum, studying ancient artifacts, including papyri, inscriptions, ceramics, and coins.
- Students can expand their horizons by studying ancient Egypt and the Near East, classical Greece and Rome, and late Roman and early Byzantine history.
- They can undertake the only degree of its kind in Australia, offering a full study of Egyptology, Greece, Rome, Late Antiquity, and Byzantium.
- Students can study ancient languages and pursue their own research interests, choosing a minor in Ancient Greek, Egyptian Hieroglyphs, or Latin, or studying Ancient Hebrew and/or Coptic – all from beginner level.
