Enhance your understanding of education and teaching with the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Reflective Practice) top-up course offered by the University of Reading's Institute of Education. Designed for primary and secondary school teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or those working towards it, this program explores how evidence-based research can inform future practice. Through a combination of live online group tutorials, individual tutorials, and pre-recorded material, you'll delve into effective behavior management for learning, the use of oracy in the classroom, and creating an inclusive classroom environment. The program culminates in two assignments: one addressing a whole-school issue and the other involving an action research project to develop an aspect of your classroom practice. Both assignments contribute credits towards a master's in Education.
Outline:

Taught content is delivered through group tutorials, face-to-face or online sessions, and resources are shared via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). There are three taught sessions per assignment, which are recorded and shared with students on the VLE. You're encouraged to utilize online literature through the University library and receive individual tutorials and written feedback on assignments to prepare for final assessments.

Whole-School Issue Assignment:
Addresses a whole-school issue with a focus on effective behavior management for learning, the use of oracy in the classroom, and creating an inclusive classroom environment.
Action Research Project:
Involves designing and implementing an action research project to develop an aspect of your classroom practice.
