Stage 1 - Taught Component

  • Two 30-credit modules supported by online "scaffolding sessions"
  • Module 1 (Semester 1): Advanced Professional Practice Research Problem and Theory
  • Covers the conceptual basis of Evidence Based Management, the relationship between theory and practice in management research, and how to move from a research topic to specific research problems and questions.
  • Focuses on undertaking a literature review and using academic literature to clarify and narrow the research topic into a coherent set of research questions.
  • Module 2 (Semester 2): Advanced Research Methods in a Business Context
  • Explores the theoretical, contextual, and conceptual requirements of undertaking independent research leading to a Doctoral award.
  • Focuses on developing a robust and justified scientific research paradigm and equipping students with a wide range of doctoral-level research tools.

Stage 2 - Research Component
