About Program

Program Overview

This Level 2 Technical Certificate in Agriculture prepares individuals for employment in the agricultural industry, covering crop production, livestock management, machinery operation, and farm maintenance. Students gain hands-on experience on a working farm, developing skills in livestock handling, tractor driving, and forklift operations. The program includes work experience and field trips, providing practical knowledge and industry connections. Upon completion, graduates are equipped to enter the agriculture workforce or pursue further education.

Program Outline

You do not need to have any previous experience of farming. At Writtle College you’ll be based on a rural campus with approximately 130 hectares of arable land, livestock, and a working farm. We need to produce more food to feed a growing global population – and the agricultural industry needs people who can meet that challenge. Your course includes work experience, and a range of field trips including visits to farms, producers and manufacturers. You can expect to spend three days a week in college, plus at least one additional day per week on the work placement element of the course. When you complete this Level 2 Technical Certificate, you’ll be ready to work in the agricultural industry or continue your studies with a Level 3 course.
