Program Overview
This distance learning program is designed for registered midwives in clinical leadership roles, such as Labour Ward or MLBU Coordinators. Through modules in leadership, communication, and advocacy, participants develop their skills to inspire and motivate their teams to provide safe and personalized care. Aspiring intrapartum area leads or ward managers in other maternity services may also find this course valuable. The program includes distance learning, live lectures, and group work, and is assessed through a recorded narrated presentation.

Degree Overview:
This distance learning course is aimed at registered midwives working in clinical leadership roles in intrapartum areas, such as Labour Ward or MLBU Coordinators. Through distance learning and taught by a variety of experts in healthcare leadership, you'll develop your knowledge and skills in leadership, and become empowered to inspire, motivate and encourage their teams to deliver care that is safe and personalised. This course may also be suited to those aspiring to become intrapartum area leads but are currently in development posts, or who are currently ward managers of other maternity services.

Course Schedule:
- Induction: Thursday 21 March 2024
- Teaching: Wednesdays for 12 weeks, from 8 May 2024 to July 2024
Assessment:
- Recorded narrated presentation, equivalent to 4,800 words

- Distance learning via Canvas, ARU's online Learning Management System (LMS)

- This course is part of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care at ARU.
- The faculty has invested heavily in purpose-built simulated wards, science labs and skills spaces to support student learning.
