The Finance and Investment course provides a critical understanding of advanced concepts and theories relevant to the finance and investment disciplines, including their applied aspects, their nature and significance in the modern economic environment, and the role of financial supervision and regulation as a means to reduce systemic risk and protect consumers, depositors and investors. The program introduces current techniques, methods, and technologies used in the finance and investment industries to measure, price, eliminate the risk associated with various financial assets, and efficiently allocate capital to the economy. The program also emphasizes the growing importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks in both financial and non-financial firms, addressing market demands, stakeholder expectations, expanding awareness of ESG issues, and regulations designed to address them. The program enables students to develop and apply their knowledge and skills in a socially responsible, ethical, and sustainable manner to the role of a finance or banking professional as well as in other business and management-related work environments in the UK and internationally. The program explores all aspects of financial risk and financial institution regulation. Students will manage a simulated sub-portfolio on behalf of a client.
