This MSc Education (Mathematics Education) pathway is designed for UK and international mathematics teachers and other professionals working in mathematics education, from primary schools to Higher Education, or those working in community-based settings. The program aims to support students in integrating the theory and practice of teaching and learning mathematics through various activities, including:
- Active research of own and others' practice, including reworking own practice
- Conducting small-scale research projects, with one potentially serving as a pilot for the dissertation
- Exploring new developments in teaching and learning mathematics
- Updating mathematics knowledge
- Writing assignments that demonstrate the emergence of a theoretical frame, present a literature search, and develop ideas from a seminar
- Developing confidence in presentation, argumentation, research, and ICT skills
