Program Outline
Degree Overview:
This course is designed for registered podiatrists who are interested in podiatric surgery. It provides an introduction to the complete surgical episode of care, from pre-operative assessment to discharge. The course covers peri-operative care, surgical technique, and principles of bone fixation. The course aims to present the key principles that underpin podiatric surgical practice and introduce the surgical skills required to support practice. It also covers the in-depth anatomy of the foot and provides an opportunity to practice surgical dissection/prosection of the foot and lower limb.
Assessment:
Assessment includes a case-based Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and submission of a written assignment. Feedback (usually written) is provided on all coursework submissions within three term time weeks, unless the submission was made towards the end of the session, in which case feedback would be available on request after the formal publication of results. Feedback on exam performance/final coursework is available on request after the publication of results.

Teaching is delivered through a series of lectures, practical classes, demonstrations, and work-based learning, supported by the University's virtual learning environment.

In 2024/25 the part-time tuition fee for UK postgraduate students on this course will be £660 (Band 2) per 15 credit module and £1,320 (Band 2) per 30 credit module. Please note that tuition fees for subsequent years of study may rise in line with inflation (RPI-X).
