The Master of Music, Performance Option at CSU prepares musicians for competitive performance and teaching careers. Through individualized study and tailored directed areas, students develop their expertise in diverse performance areas, including woodwinds, brass, strings, and voice.

The Master of Music, Performance Option is a comprehensive program designed to develop musicianship, technical proficiency, and cultural awareness in performance and pedagogy. It offers a multifaceted approach to the study and performance of music across various styles and idioms.

- To prepare students to be advocates for the arts in their communities.
- To equip students with the skills to perform solo, small, and large ensemble music.
Program Description:
The program emphasizes regular study on the student's applied instrument or voice, with additional directed areas tailored to individual goals and needs. Students can specialize in one or more areas as they work towards degree recital requirements.

Other:
- Students must register for an in-person audition with CSU Music faculty.
- Majors in vocal performance are required to be proficient in Italian, German, and French singing diction, as well as the use of International Phonetic Alphabet upon entering the program.
- Vocal performance majors must also demonstrate proficiency in two of the following languages: French, Italian, and German.
- The level of proficiency for each language must be equal to a grade of "B" or better.
