Program Overview
The graduate certificate in gerontology combines theoretical and applied coursework in aging with students' graduate studies in any field. Students take required courses in social gerontology, aging and health, clinical practice with older adults, and aging programs and policies. They also select an elective from psychology, social work, or an independent study focused on gerontology research. To earn the certificate, students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00.

The graduate certificate in gerontology combines theoretical and applied coursework in aging with the student's graduate curriculum in any department. Because gerontology is by definition multidisciplinary, students are required to take coursework outside their major field.

This certificate may be pursued on a full-or part-time basis. To earn the certificate, students must earn a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the 15 credits of coursework outlined above, with no more than 3 credits with a grade of C.
