Program Overview
The MEng Marine and Mechanical Engineering program at Liverpool John Moores University is a four-year full-time program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles and advanced design technology required to be a successful marine engineer. The program is professionally accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and offers the opportunity for students to undertake a year-long paid industrial placement. Graduates of the program are well-prepared for careers in a variety of areas in the maritime industry both shore based and sea going, in the UK and abroad.

This practical, one-day course is designed for operators who have at least six months' experience of driving a tractor and have completed the PA1 Foundation Module. Our instructor/student ratio is 1:4. Topics covered will include: safe driving practice calibration post-spraying procedures. This is in compliance with regulations and directives from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). You'll also complete an NPTC assessment (date arranged separately). Your course fee includes equipment use, NPTC registration and assessment. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring a packed lunch and any other refreshments.
Entry Requirements:
- GCSEs and equivalents: Grade 4 or grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics/ Numeracy.
- GCSE Equivalences accepted:
- Key Skills Level 2 in English/Maths
- NVQ Level 2 Functional skills in Maths and English Writing and or Reading
- Skills for Life Level 2 in Numeracy/English
- Higher Diploma in Maths/English
- Northern Ireland Essential Skills Level 2 in Communication or Application of Number
- Wales Essential Skills Level 2 in Communication or Application of Number
- A levels: ABB-AAB Minimum Number of A Levels: 2 Maximum AS UCAS Points: 20
- Subject requirements: Grade B from Maths and a Grade B from one of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Computing, Further Maths, Electronics or Engineering.
- BTECs: Extended Diploma: DDM in Engineering discipline + Distinction in Further Engineering Maths
- Access awards: Not accepted on MEng-students studying Access can be considered for Beng programme
- International Baccalaureate: Acceptable on its own and combined with other qualifications including minimum score of 6 in HL Mathematics and 6 in HL Physics
- OCR Cambridge Technical: Acceptable on its own and combined with other qualifications From a relevant subject that includes Maths.
- Irish awards: Acceptable on its own and combined with other qualifications from a minimum of 5 subjects including appropriate Maths and Physics
- T levels: Acceptable on its own and combined with other qualifications.
- You need to obtain the required UCAS points from a related subject area that includes Maths.
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, taken within two years of the course start date.
